"The Grand Canyon of the West" with it's waterfalls, green canyons and soaring birds.  This trip, the canyon was much more green and lush.  These soaring birds are so graceful.  They just float.  In my photo they are those tiny white dots because I don't have a good telephoto lens and I am not a bird photographer.  Below is my photo of the canyon and then a photo I got off the internet of the beautiful Koa'e Kea White-Tailed Tropicbird And of course I have to add my family photos.    Unfortunately we didn't go to the top of Waimea before the fog rolled in.  This was the view this trip This was the view 2 years ago And then we made our way back down to Port Allen Back down for some delicious beer and food at the Kauai Island Brewing Company

We landed in Kauai on a beautiful 80+ degree evening.  By the time we landed, took the transport to the rental car, got the car and headed to the hotel it was getting pretty late in the evening.  Day 1 is going to be very short.  Next time, remember to take a flight that gets here earlier. Approaching Kauai   Rental car stop  Welcome to Kauai   Grocery store across the street Best salsa on the planet!  Our condo, the Waipouli Beach Resort was gorgeous!  Beautiful pool and ocean view, so spacious and amazing.  Small lanai so we had to take turns going out there. We managed to get in a night swim in the amazing pool

The shuttle got us to the airport in plenty of time for our flight. Then the flying begins.  Relatively long flights but not bad at all. A nap is in order 1st stop in Phoenix and the area is so beautiful to fly over And then a stretch And we are off for the 2nd leg And we are here finally!

Ready to go and very excited! Thanks to Erin we have a hotel room for the night before the flight at the Sheraton Four Points.  Nice room with Hibachi and Mai Thai's to get ready for vacation And this shirt says it all!
